DESCRIPTION:Special Course\nEnvironmental Economics \nLecturer\nProfessor Dr Till Requate (Kiel University) \nThe registration deadline is 30 January 2026 (capacity is limited).\nTo register\, please send an e-mail to niedetzky@wifa.uni-leipzig.de  // subject: Registration Environmental Economics. \nAll lectures will take place in the ECO-N commons room\, Hainstr. 11\, Leipzig. \nShort description: This course covers advanced topics in environmental economics. We begin with a discussion of prominent environmental policy instruments\, such as command and control\, emissions taxes\, and tradable emissions permits. Then\, we discuss the implications for product markets\, imperfect competition\, and the treatment of international environmental issues\, particularly climate policy. The course also covers pre-existing distortions and long-term investment incentives. Finally\, we introduce dynamic problems\, particularly the accumulation of pollutants. \nParticipation requirements: \nParticipants are expected to have a strong grasp of microeconomics\, particularly utility-\, profit-\, and welfare-maximization\, using the Lagrangian method.
